Justin Bird returned from MIPIM and reported a flurry of planning activity as the industry prepares to activate many dormant projects. “Funding is still an issue, although London is clearly THE place to invest right now as there is so much going on.”

BTP funds normally set aside for cards and gifts at this time of year have instead been donated to Shelter and Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice.
Major new 6 star hotel one step nearer completion
On 14 December a Topping Out Ceremony took place at the site of the new Wellesley Hotel overlooking Hyde Park.
The Wellesley is destined to be London’s first 6-star luxury hotel. It will feature 1920’s Art Deco themes, Europe’s largest cigar humidor and heated terrace and a whisky and cognac wall in the Crystal Bar. There will also be an intimate Jazz Bar in keeping with the sites heritage which previously hosted such talents as Amy Winehouse, Johnny Dankworth, Mica Paris and George Melly.
